does any one know the weight of the fit engine, also what direct the flywheel turns CW or CCW as you are facing it.

If you look at the end where the fanbelt is it runs clockwise. Can't find the weight. And if you are contemplating an engine swap yes the R engine has been installed.

so that would mean the flywheel turns CCW. I test drove one today to get an idea of power and torque. this motor can't weigh much with the PS pump and A/C components removed. BTW I am looking to install this engine in a helicopter.

I'm just curious- wouldn't an air-cooled engine work better? I don't know if any of the older air cooled auto engines would have enough power to weight ratio, but if any do, you could eliminate a LOT of excess weight by not needing a radiator, water pump, and several gallons of coolant at 8.3 pounds per gallon. I'm guessing that several of the Porsche engines would work well.

power-to-weight is the big problem. many newer engine are all aluminum. radiator and coolant turns out not to be an issue with the HP these small engines a producing these days plus water pump is just part of the motor now. all I need is 90HP, honda claims 117 on the fit and I'm sure thats at the wheels and not at the fly wheel. I have a friend who is using a 1200cc yamaha 4 stroke liquid cooled snowmobile motor, but I don't care for yamaha plus the shaft turns the wrong direction. I am also looking at honda and seadoo jet skis. the web site is helicycle.com if anyone wants to look at the choppers.
Has anyone had there engine on a dyno to see where the torque and HP peaks, also could that be chnge by reprograming the ecm or ecu

Oscar Jackson who has years of building supercharger kits for all kinds of cars and is now building a kit using the Rotrex S/C under the brand name of Kraft Werks.... There are also turbochargers from a couple or more companies.... I kind of like the supercharger myself but anything you do is going to be costly and if it is balls out speed you are after you would be better off buying a second hand sport bike of 1000 CCs or bigger..... It would be cheaper but you would be missing out on the stealthy sleeper effect of a boosted Fit if you do.

I know that I found the weight of the Fit motor somewhere. Let me look a bit, and I'll edit this post to have the info.
Found my post about the r18a from the current Civic on the other forum.
I just watched a honda video on the r18a, and it was said to be 5 kg's (about 12 Lbs.) lighter than a 1.7 liter engine (I assume the D17 is what they were comparing it to, but that is an assumption on my part.) I did find out that the D17 is 55 Lbs lighter than a K series motor, and 75 Lbs lighter than a B series motor.
Edit; I jsut found out the D17 weighs about 235 Lbs. That would put the K20 at about 290 Lbs, and the B18 at 310 Lbs. The R18a may weigh about 223 Lbs, assuming that honda was using it as the 1.7 liter motor in the r18 promotional video.
In a thread about the L15 design philosophy, it stated that the L15 was apporximately 10% lighter than the D17. If that is exactly right, the L15 woudl weigh about 211.5 Lbs

OP, it looks like EXWRX got the info. that you needed. When you said "helicopter", I was picturing a gyro-copter, with a huge pusher prop bolted to the flywheel of a rearward facing little auto engine.
It is interesting that your kit-copter can provide the lift, hover, speed, and altitude figures in the web site specs. while powering both the main and tail rotors with a 90 hp engine. Good luck with your build. Inept people who break off their wheel studs and do even more damage by not having the proper tools or knowledge seem to be compelled to post about those mistakes on auto forums.
One mistake in building an aircraft might be your last, so I hope that you are careful.
