All they are are a shim or shims that go between the hub and the swing arm. Take the wheels off and look behind the brake drum. Look for the nuts or bolt heads holding the whole drum and brake assembly to the main swing arm.

You may be able to put them between the drum and arm just by loosening the bolts if the shims are slotted. If not you will have to take the bolts all the way out so the shims can be inserted then the bolts put back in.

The fat part of the shim goes on the bottom.

There are a couple of problems using shims that you need to think about and decide if they are for you. First Fit/Jazz have an inherent rear wheel bearing failure problem and increasing the camber angle will put more strain on the bearing and MAY cause increased wear. The second problem is the shims cause there to be an angle between the hub and swing arm therefore the hub is not in contact with the swing arm it's full length and that way it is not as secure.

The third problem is because the hub is now crooked and not flat on the swing arm the retaining bolts need to be tightened more than stock torque specs and the bolts are being BENT to match the new angle of the hub.

That being said some people have used them with no problems but I would recheck the torque specs on the nuts after a week or so because they may loosen while the bolts and being bent to match the new hub angle.

Yo, Matt-

Personally, I don't care if some of the weirder fitfreaks lose a wheel at 80 mph on the freeway (it would improve that site!), but I don't want that to happen to you. This sounds like a mod to run away from. When you bend and over-torque automobile fasteners, the next thing that happens is---they break. But, this advice comes from someone who doesn't give a sh!t about flush-fitting wheels and tires. And, it comes from someone who has totaled three cars, with 7 healed bone fractures as a result.

See how well I know you? I knew that that was what you meant (with some disappointment) in your reply to claymore. You may be weird in your own right (sutures in yer Hood Deflector), but you are also creative and intelligent.

And after all, you share certain properties with the Alien in the 1951 version of The Thing which one of the movie characters described as "an intellectual carrot" (see the Entertainment Value forums, "The Movies thread", my post about James Arness who played the alien). Not casting aspersions on your physical characteristics- (we don't do that here). At least you don't have a limp from machine gun damage to your right leg from WWII, (as far as I know- HAVEN'T MET YOU YET!!!!!!!!).

Your mother wouldn't letcha ya come to the first Bay Area Fit Meet--- whut's yer excuse now? STOOL is now smelling up the local Scooby meets. Only smart folks around here now! We even let 7 foot tall people in, and we don't scream and run in terror!

Better watch out where you stand at the next meet as Matt will be beaming in and you wouldn't want to be standing in the spot he picks as his landing area. :D
