View Full Version : CoverKing Wetsuit Seat Covers via Costco
After drooling over the Wet Okole neoprene (http://www.wetokole.com/honda_fit_seat_covers_front.html) seatcovers and realizing I didn't want to spend damn near $500 on them, I decided to get a set made by CoverKing and sold by Costco (http://www.costco.com/Browse/Productgroup.aspx?Prodid=11229049&search=coverking&Mo=5&cm_re=1_en-_-Top_Left_Nav-_-Top_search&lang=en-US&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&Sp=S&N=5000043%204001192&whse=BC&Dx=mode+matchallpartial&cat=3960&Dr=P_CatalogName:BC&Ne=4000000&D=coverking&Ntk=Text_Search&Ntt=coverking&No=4&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1&topnav=&s=1) instead. The cost for both front and rear seats is $269. I also had to pay a $13.50 surcharge because I'm not a Costco member, as well as sales tax of $14.17. There was no charge for shipping, yielding a grand total of $297.66. Here is a sample pic from the Costco website.

Thanks to Manxman for turning me on to them. http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g208/erikivy/icon_thumbsup.gif
I placed the order with Costco on 11/30 and was notified it would take two to three weeks to get them since they are custom made-to-order. Imagine my surprise when I got an email on 12/7 saying they had shipped and would be here on 12/11. http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g208/erikivy/icon_eek.gif Anyway, fast-forward to today when I decided to check the UPS tracking page and learn that it's already "out for delivery" even though today is only 12/10. Those are magic words to anyone who routinely buys stuff online and they always gets me excited. :) So I'm sitting here at my desk anxiously waiting for Big Brown to roll up and make my day. As soon as they get here, I'll rip them out of the box and try to get a few pics up as well as my first impressions.

Yes- the example photo does look nice. Now, you get the joy of removing the seats from the car to install the covers. Oh boy!
Well, they're here......but so is my boss. :( Gonna have to wait a bit longer.
OK, here they are. I laid them out with the seat and seat backs next to their corresponding pieces.

I don't know a whole lot about sewing or neoprene or seat covers, so keep that in mind as you read this. :) These look and feel awesome. The seams are very tight and neat. The material is stretchy, but firm. The two front seats have panels designed to accommodate the air bags.
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g208/erikivy/Fit/sidepanel.jpg
They also have large pockets in the back so you don't have to give up the storage area built into the stock seats.

I know this isn't a whole lot of feedback, but until I get them installed, I won't really be able to conclude much more. Oh, per review of the included instructions, it's not necessary to remove the seats to install them. Of course, doing so might make it easier to get them in. I'll try it "by the book" first and, if necessary, resort to "by the Manx." http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g208/erikivy/icon_rolleye11.gif

Erik,
Your description sounds like you got a great deal. I was expecting the instructions to suggest seat removal for best results, so I am glad to hear otherwise from you. I have a neoprene cover on my cell phone, and it is a bitch to get that cover on and off hard, shiny plastic. I expected much worse for the stock seats, so let us know how the installation goes. I hope that it is easier than I imagine it to be..
Here we are 30 minutes later.....

Here's a close-up of the headrest. It looks very neat and tidy at the base of the post. This is one area that I was concerned about because it's right there in front of you every time you get in the car.

So far, I'm very pleased. As they wear in, I imagine they will need tighenting a bit, but hopefully they'll stay relatively tight. Next step, the rear seats. These should be easier because it's a piece of cake to get under the seat. It was a bit of a struggle to get my big-ass manly hands under the front seats. :)

Geez, not bad at all. Maybe the stretchy neoprene fabric will stay tight. If you're not careful, you will become Coverking's best salesman on HFF. R.I.P. Billy Mays.
Lol..
Should i start typing in caps????

Got mine last week. They were about $80 more (not on sale anymore) but totally worth the price. The material is thick and seems very durable. No idea how you got these things on in a half hour, lol. Took me about an hour and a half I think.

Today is the day- it is finally over 60 degrees out and I do not have to work!!
I have them installed --took about 45 minutes--but since I had them for so long before installing, the little stickers indicating which side the covers go on had fallen off. The seat backs were easy enough to figure with the air bag pockets---but the front seat bottoms??? I am not sure if I installed them on the correct side.
I put the side with the little flap on the inside of the seat--not sure if this was correct or if the little flap goes on the outside?
Can anyone advise? -thanks!

They look GREAt Susan. I can't guess where the "little flaps" would go- you have a seatbelt on one side, and the seatbelt latch on the other. So it probably doesn't matter which side the flap is on. Good job on the installation!

Don't your USDM ones have an airbag in the seat? Could the pockets have something to do with the airbag release?

Thanks Dave! They were a lot easier to put on than the inexpensive seat covers I got from Target. They would have been difficult to put on in cold weather
Claymore- The US Fits have airbags on the sides of the seat backs--but not the bottom. The flap I am referring to is a tiny little flap.
On the first page of this thread- If you look at Erik’s photos of the seatcovers laid out, you can see the tiny flap on the right side of the right seatcover.
Judging from his layout, the flap is on the opposite side of the airbag pocket--which means it goes on the inside--so I guess I installed them correctly. I am not sure why it is there though.

I had a long reply about the air bag flaps typed out and then I actually looked at your pictures and realized you have that all figured out :o
You know, I must not have noticed the little flap on the bottoms. I didn't have any stickers or anything telling me which piece was which, I just laid them out where I thought they went and installed them. It seemed like I got them on right though.
Yours look great! Love the black and grey

Dikaryon- thanks! I am happy with the color--if they had offered purple centers..I might have gone with that ;)
I really like your blue ones with your blue Fit.
Thinking back-- now I remember there were no little stickers--I am mixing them up with the ones I bought from Target which had little white circles indicating right or left side. The covers fit nice & snug. Two of the smaller tiedowns under the seat bottoms were a bit loose, so I just crammed them into the seat
The instructions said the covers might loosen over time--have you had to adjust yours yet? Also have the rear seats become easier to move? I am thinking of getting rear covers sometime in the future.

My covers could probably stand to be tightened a little, I just haven't had the time to sit down and carefully do it. I don't put my back seats up and down often but when I was loading some luggage in the back seat a couple weekends ago it wasn't a problem at all. Once you lift the back seats and put them back down you'll have to pull the seat belt things back through the holes but that doesn't take more than half a minute.

Ordered mine in solid Black today for the front seats only since it's once a blue moon anyone rides in the back seats and I allow nothing but bottled water in the car.

Mine arrived today today.
Chance of my hands reaching/fitting under the seats 0.00% So I unbolted the seats. Installation was not bad (except around the drivers arm rest) ;-7 and took about an hour. They look very nice and appear to be very high quality.

Offers purple centers, mine are on the way.
Anyone install the Okole seat covers and have any tips?

The Coverkings were about as easy to install as the inexpensive ones they sell at Auto stores, Target/Kmart. I would assume the Okole are similar-- you just need to get under the seats to secure them. One advantage if you have small hands.

Except for the side to side straps on the bottom of the seats. You have to remove the clasp to feed through just the strap (back by the lever) thenre-attach the clasp and clip to the clasp from the other side. I have mine fed through, but not clipped yet...

Keith looks like you could tuck the sides of the front bottom over the material and the plastic edge--I needed to do that with the Coverkings to make them fit more snug. I just crammed whatever extra material there was into the plastic edge

Are the neoprene covers extremely hot? Has anyone tried the new NeoSupreme covers, which are lighter?
sooznd
10-19-2011, 12:22 PM
No they are not hot- they are really temperature neutral- same as the original fabric seats.
FYI Costco is having their annual sale again on the Coverking Neoprene $160 per row. It is well worth the $50 membership fee if you are not a Costco Member.
