I think this all depends on the amount and type of driving you do on a daily basis. I'm in Michigan and last year we had quite a bit of snow. I had a few close calls. I have never felt the real need for snow tires but I decided to try som Blizzaks this winter. Everyone that has them seems to really feel more in control and in turn safer. I also drive with my two year old son everyday and I really want to do everything that I can to keep him safe. I guess I'll find out if this is true when the snow starts flying here. Happy Trails!

Thanks for your opinion. I think I'll have to gamble on how our "winter" is going to roll out. I should seriously budget some snow tires into my overal house budget so i can have a set on hand should the need arise. I also have two little girls that i pick up and drop off from their grandma's house every Monday.

I'm struggling with the same thing. Wife drives the Fit and she used to drive an Odyssey with traction control, so it will be a big change for her. Last winter here in Chicagoland was quite active but streets are usually cleaned up in a hurry. On the other hand, looks like I can get a set of snow tires for about 300 from tirerack. Maybe I'll wait until the first snowfall to see how it goes...
