I got tired of keeping three remotes in my car. Last night I installed a Homelink unit that I got off of ebay. Now I can open my garage, security gate, and Grandpa's garage without having to carry around 3 remotes. I wasn't brave enough to cut the headliner, so I went this route.

This is the fuse cover/compartment door just left of the steering wheel. When the door in place, it is difficult to see the buttons, so you have to operate them by feel.

This is what it looks like from behind. There's a lot of room back there. I just had to make sure that it cleared the brackets inside the dash.

I used a piece of sheet metal strap, and secured it with 2 rivets.

Note: I was certain that a headliner location would have been a better choice, offering better range. However, like I said, I wasn't fond of cutting into my headliner. Luckily with this underdash location, I can still operate the garage door openers remotely. The only caveat is that I need to be on my driveway before I am in range. Anyway, the trade off works for me...I am happy.:)

Nice job. Now push the buttons while driving down the street to see if you can open someone else doors:rolleyes:

Dam Dave you let my secret out of the bag. You would be surprised at how many people I can get to follow my suggestions. Dueling Violins anyone?
