On the competition freaky site a member is offering to sell a front lip and winglets made from aluminum UNLESS YOU HAVE A LOT OF MONEY YOU DON'T WANT OR LIKE PAYING BIG BUCKS TO LAWYERS DO NOT INSTALL ONE OF THESE ON YOUR FIT.

There is a reason that car manufactures use plastic for body parts it called LIABILITY. Think about hitting a kid that walks in front of your Fit and you give him a little bump with a plastic lip. Not much damage to the kid because the plastic flexes or breaks limiting the injuries to the kid.

Now think about the same accidental hitting of the kid with a razor blade on the front of the car and to your horror you jump out only to find the kid on the ground with his feet cut off above the ankles and his feet under your Fit:eek:

Besides how bad you will feel for the kid with no feet it's time to run for the lawyers to try and save your house (or all your other assets) from being taken away in the lawsuit to come.

Then the really bad news the fact that you installed an unapproved UNSAFE product on you car without notifying your insurance company means YOU will be liable NOT THE INSURANCE COMPANY. The kid that is making these is just a kid and has limited funds the lawsuits are going to come after YOU and him.

A sheet of aluminum only a couple mm thick mounted sideways sticking out the front of your car is an invitation to disaster. At any speed the mass forcing the unbreakable, thin, edge of that blade like appendage to cut through anything it comes into contact with is enormous and since it will not bend or break it cuts causing horrendous damage to any soft tissue it comes into contact with.

So unless you are independently wealthy or you father is a famous lawyer AVOID THIS LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Good warning! But here is the more likely liability circumstance: The aluminum lip will be far less flexible than the soft bumper cover that it is mounted to, will be heavier than the stock plastic lip, and being made by some kid and not Honda, it won't have exactly the same shape or proper air flow pattern. MORE WIND RESISTANCE and more mass. Whether it is attached with stock plastic clips, or more likely, is riveted on, it is much more likely to just snap off (tear the rivets or clips out of the soft bumper cover plastic) than the stock plastic lip.

It will either fly under your car to cause who knows what damage and/or the crash of your car, or will fly off into traffic beside or behind you. Just imagine how many law suits will come your way (right away!!!).

Or falling off and flying spinning out the side of the car like a giant lawnmower blade let loose.

I think the time has arrived for all vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, skateboards and all other items that are capable of causing injury to be manufactured by WhamO with all of the properties of their Nerf brand products..... I can now safely run with my new WhamO Nerf scissors with no worry of putting my eye out if I fall and I can microwave them and get high on the residual fumes they give off as they cool..... I love WhamO!!!

This is completely beside the point (of V.I.'s post), but one of my grammar school classmates was a girl named Linda Melin. Her father was (still is?) the owner of WhamO. In the fourth grade, a big truck drove up at recess, and everyone in the school was given the first Hula Hoops that the world had ever seen. They were released for sale in a flurry of TV ads the next week.

I could never talk dear little Linda into getting me a free WhamO slingshot, however. This was all in my home town of San Gabriel, CA, in about 1958.
