After the sanding, a clearcoat could have looked interesting, but to let it rust looks like ass:mad:

I've gone blind!!! It BURNS............
Wow, I've seen people do dumb things over the years, but I can't remember anything worse than this. While he's at it, why not take a big wet steamy crap in the back seat, slice up the upholstery with a razor blade and finish it off by pouring some sand in the gas tank?
This has got to be a joke, right? Maybe he's planning to paint the hood a different color and just wanted to goof around with a thin layer of rust on the hood before getting on with the project. I'm headed back over there to read more of that thread. It's sorta like drving by an accident scene.....almost impossible to look away. :)
OK, apparently the whole rusted hood thing is actually something the VW folks have been doing for a while and this guy wanted to try it on his Fit. I'm a country boy living in the wilds of central Virginia and never heard of this "mod." Also, he did this to a cheap, after-market hood and not his original hood, so maybe he's not totally retarded after all. :) If you guys already knew of this trend, I apologize for the intrusion.
But I know I one thing for sure; I won't be asking Dave for tips on how to best strip the paint off my hood and promote nice, even rust propagation. http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g208/erikivy/icon_nah.gif

Nope. You are showing your NOOB status in the Fit world. This thread concerns a member who has divulged his diagnosed mental illnesses on the forums in the past. His Fit is driven around on broken wheel studs, is so low that he has ripped off his tie rods while driving over a gas station man hole cover, and routinely patches the leaks in his oil pan with epoxy because the pan has been ground away by the pavement. Also painted his Milano Red Fit in flat teal paint, but left the door jambs red, and replaced the front lip of the Sport with sheet aluminum.
This is the Fitfreak Cindarella, going to the ball in a Magic Watermelon, looking for Prince Charming. Nudge nudge, wink wink!

Oh right, you mentioned this guy before. So this is the same genius, eh? I need to go ask him about proper oil change intervals, acceptable tire pressure range on the stock tires and......uhhhh...how about his preferred technique for installing eBay HID conversions. :D

Just remember that this Professor teaches a course in Car Ruination, and is eminently qualified for the job. He does have a good built-in excuse, but has no excuse for skipping his meds.

Sorry erik, I WAS WRONG!
I ranted about the wrong ff.net nut case. The "Ricky" in claymore's linked thread is not the guy I thought it was. It must be Ray's brother. Just as crazy. You know it's true when even the nuts call you crazy. My comments were true, but true of another ff.net member.
It was fun though, to get some (far from all) of Ray's car care brainlessness listed in one post.
Hi Ray- you'll see this eventually. Post some of your b.s. here so that I can delete it. Give me something to do.
This is the guy who wanted to set up a prostitution ring with a West Coast fitfreak member who was 17 years old at the time of his post to that effect. But the 17-year-old was not aware of the OP's sexual orientation. He might not have been so eager to say "Hell yeah, let's do it".
