Does this input allow use of an iPod? Isn't there some (expensive) Honda product for iPods? If the aux input works what does the other product do?

Please help this technology challenged grampa.

Thanks

The aux input and their iPod MusicLink are two totally different things. I think the MusicLink comes out of the glovebox or something. whether or not you can just grab a cable and hook up your iPod to the aux jack, I don't know, but the iPod MusicLink is specific for iPod and a separate installation (expensive as you said). I do know the aux jack hooks up to regular mp3 players such as the Creative Zen (which I use all the time, I just had to pick up a $15 cord from Fry's, hooked it up to the headphone jack of the player and the aux jack in the car, and I was good to go.)
another note on the MusicLink - it doesn't work on ALL iPods...if I find the website where I saw that info again I'll post it. another thing - do yourself a favor before you consider getting the MusicLink, if the aux jack doesn't work -look up the MusicLink online, and check out the reviews. most of them that I have seen have not been very good.

EDIT: actually, this is straight off the main Honda site:

http://automobiles.honda.com/images/2007/fit/customize/FIT0007002_mid.jpg

Connects the iPod directly to the vehicle's audio system for the best sound quality
Use the audio system's controls to search for and play music from your iPod
The MusicLink system charges your iPod battery while it's connected and the vehicle is on
*Honda MusicLink is not applicable to iPod shuffles

...the other site I read I think also mentioned that the first gen iPods don't work either. if you're considering it, I would take your iPod up to the dealership and ask to see a Fit that has a MusicLink already installed, and test it, if you can.
The cord that goes to my mp3 player looks nothing like that in the picture, so it may be a compatibility issue. I can't say for sure, I don't own an iPod. the aux jack also doesn't charge the battery.
most of those bad reviews I spoke of had to do with how the Fit's controls work with the iPod library. still, look it up, there's a wealth of people's opinions out there on it.

yes! just go buy a cheap Auxilary cord (3 feet or so) from radioshack, put one end into the end where you would put your headphones on the ipod, then the other end plugs into the Aux. input. turn on your ipod and press the Aux button on the front of the stereo...if you turn on the radio then plug in the Aux. cable, it should automatically switch to Aux. mode.
after you have it plugged in, make sure your ipod is on and that the volume is up and the mute is off.
i have a few friends who said their ipod wouldn't work in the car, the problem was either they didn't have to volume up or they had it on mute!
the cord Honda sells for the ipod that hooks through the glove box allows you to play while it charges your ipod i believe. i just decided that after every trip, i would bring my ipod in and charge it while i was at home
good luck!
