Anyone notice a gap in the frame and body seams in the front part of the drivers side rear wheel well? There is a seam that runs parallel to the ground about six to eight inches from the bottom of the car that appears to have the body gap putty missing. Looks like a place to catch water and other stuff that will cause rust. Passenger side is sealed! Taking my Fit to Honda body shop to get that gap sealed. You may want to check yours out.

Good catch. If you get a minute could you take a photo for us?

Took my Fit to my local Honda dealer that also has a body shop. The service manager looked at the gap and immediately took the car to the body shop. The extent of the repair was a follows:

Remove left rear wheel
Cleaned wheel well with solvent and high pressure air.
Examined the gap and determined that body fill was there but had not "squeezed" out through the gap.
Used a two part seam filler to seal the gap.
Sprayed the wheel well with undercoating (black) in both rear wheel wells.

My Fit is white and had white rear wheel wells. I must say that the black undercoat in the rear wheel wells looks much better.

No pictures to share..... The repair is complete (crossed fingers).

Since I don't have a GE to check where would one look inside the wheel well to find the seam... front, back, ???

So you GE guys know at least one member has had a problem time to take a look.

Fit09_ozarks thanks for the heads up.

I don't have the gap on my GE, and was looking forward to a photo from Ozark. Apparently, the factory seam filler worked properly on my car. But his warning is a good thing to have on the forums for other owners who may have the same defect on their cars. It sounds like a good potential corrosion problem if there are many Fits with the lack of fill in that seam.

You need to be sitting on the ground and look into the wheel well on the FRONT side of the tire. The area is about 8 to 10 inches uo from the bottom of the car. It is a horizontal seam where multiple body sections join. If the seam is filled you will have a hard time seeing the actual seam. If the seam is open, it is obvious.

Got it .. now the rest of you GE owners know where to check. Like manxman has said it sounds like it could be a breeding ground for future rust if it's not filled in.
