Has anyone experienced the plastic on the lower part of the handbrake snap off? I searched the forum for some of those keywords but didn't see. I will be taking the Fit in as the dealer gave us a "first ding removed free" when we bought the car, and will go in for a visit to take advantage of this.
I think the plastic froze, and when my wife disenaged the brake than the plastic hung up and snapped. Can't today because my wife took the car, but i will post a picture in the next few days to describe what happened.

My inquiry is to see if this is a rampant problem or just a one in a million occurance. If others have had this than i got a better chance of conving the dealer to cover the replacement. We don't beat on this car, so why something like this would happen blows my mind.

just wondering how many mile do you have on your car, I adjusted my rear brakes so that my handle does not come up as high as yours, about 4-5 in pull and the brake is tight for parking. Wonder if the height of it placed the plastic in a binding position to break ? I'll look at mine today to see how high it might come up.

Happens all the time in colder climates. The plastic/rubber front part gets stiffer when cold. IF you can adjust the handbrake tighter but not tight enough to have the E brakes dragging it helps.
