Has anyone swapped out their US-spec Fit emblem for the european Jazz badge?

I bought a Jazz emblem online & am ready to swap it out for a friend (elderly lady who just got her Fit...she's 70+ years young!) but i dont want to botch the job.

You can remove the old Fit emblem with a hairdryer and some dental floss (or fishing line, or a zip tie) by heating it up some, then "sawing" with the floss between the emblem and the car. My question is: What is the best way to put the Jazz emblem on and ensure that is is straight and sticks properly? The back of the Jazz emblem that i have feels a little sticky, but not nearly enough for it to hang on to the car (it is still on its waxed paper backing). Do you heat the emblem to activate the adhesive then push? Do you have to use emblem adhesive, or 3M tape?

If any body shop experts out there might have an answer for me, i sure would appreciate your help. I want my friend to be happy!

Thank you in advance,
Dave

The stock backing is strong enough to hold and is what is used from the factory.

Daniel-

Thank you for your answer, but the emblem that I have came on a wax-paper type backing, and when I peel it back, the emblem backing isn't very sticky at all (see photos).

Do I have to peel another layer off of the back of the emblem, or heat this one up to stick it on, or just press it on?

Thanks again for your help. I'm an amature & don't want to botch this up! ;)

Welcome to HondaFitForums! :) is it a Genuine Honda Part? I only ask because the real parts usually have good adhesive backing. maybe it's just been handled a lot? in that case, i guess you could find some sort of spray on adhesive and spray it on the back of the emblem. 3M tape works alright too, but the adhesive eventually deteriorates and the emblem can fall off. good luck and I hope it turns out gewd:)

As far as I know, its an OEM part. I got it from a seller in Japan off of eBay (sellers name is Morio Kuroda from Shi Shizuoka Ken). It just seems like the rear should be stickier. Gonna go to my local paint & body repair shop to see if they have some sort of adhesive to spray or brush on. Would be nice to have something that I can work with before it sets up....I want to get this thing on straight and any instant-stick stuff would not be a good thing.

Anyone else have a good adhesive that's workable but sets up hard as a rock?

By the way, thanks for your help Ferio....I really appreciate it!

The backing is strong enough and is what is used on all Honda emblems. It will stick. Try it before using anything else on it.:)

Thank you, Daniel. I guess that WOULD make the most sense; no use using Krazy Glue if the OEM glue does the trick. I just want to get the damn thing on straight! AAAHHHHH!!!!!!

maybe, before you take off the Fit emblem, take a ruler or something straight, paper even, under it and tape it to the car with regular scotch tape (don't push it down too hard) ...and there's your straight edge to guide you.
I'd say probably a ruler or something that comes up, so that you can set the emblem down on top of it - less eyeball work than a piece of paper

You can use what they call adhesion promoter. They are generally used for dash trim kits and on body kits with double sided tape. They come in a can or in a stick that looks like a tide to go.
