I'm a Honda fanatic from way back in 1974 when I got my first one (wish I still had it) and everybody wondered what that funny little car was when I drove by.
Now, thinking about buying a Civic or a Fit for myself. Has anyone else made a choice between the two, and why did you choose a Fit?
Another question, maybe a dumb one. Is the Fit considered just a car for young people? I think it's a great looking car and probably is good for cargo especially compared to the Civic. Will I look pretty strange driving one at my advanced age? (My kids will probably take my license away in a few years)
Thanks!

I, too, am of an advanced age and am also considering a Fit. I had a Civic coupe with a stick and currently own an '02 Accord coupe: both have been stellar vehicles. I'm just waiting for the '09 models to come out. I, too, question the difference between the Civic and the Fit if the MPG is so similar....

Fit cost is lesser than a civic, it has more useful room ( utility ) a 6' 2" person can sit in the front or back and not touch the ceiling. That same person will not have to bend down and stoop as low as a civic. The back seat go down flat unlike the civic. The sport model is a bit more expensive but a lot of enjoyment to drive. My mom has a 07 civic, I've got the 07 Fit. I like my car, my mom likes my car better, less bending down to get in or out.

I was also confused between the Civic and Fit but decided to go for the fit because the Fit has more cargo space than the civic and the seats configuration amazed me. The fit also get good gas mileage but I think the Civic gets a little better mpg.
I don't see anything wrong an older person driving the Fit, I've seen a couple of old people driving the Fit.
My advice is test drive both and see where you are more comfortable. I think the Fit seat is horrible if you have back problem due to its lacking of lumbar support while on the other hand, the Honda Civic seat is very comfortable. Both cars handle great.
