when it rains, the interior rocker panels and inside door frame gets filthy. never inside the car itself but it's definately coming in under the doors. maybe it shows up worse on my black car, but still i find this kinda stupid. heck even my silverado doesn't do this. anybody else or is this isolated?

yes on my silver fit, it does the same.. at times when no rain but going thru sprinkler puddles, the muddy water is in the rocker panels but the rest of the car is clean.

you are not alone. I have to drive a mile long dusty road everytime I go anywhere. The dust collects all around the inside of the doors and back hatch. It gets on the back of my leg or jeans when I get out of the car. When I wash the car I have to spend lots of time cleaning all around door jambs and seals. Never had this problem with my Altima or Mercedes. It does get inside because seats and dash gets dusty. Seems like doors and hatch not sealed well. Otherwise fit is fun to drive.

Sorry to be so late in replying to this thread, but I agree that this is a problem due to poor design of both the GD3 and GE8 Fits. A rubber seal around the outer edge of the door frames would eliminate the problem, but it saved Honda 25 cents to not address the issue on this economy car.

If I am not mistaken, on my 2010 fit sport, there are rubber seals. Maybe this is one of the minor differences in the 2009 and 2010? I wondered what that rubber was for.

If you don't get water leaking into your door frames over the winter, THAT'S what the rubber is for. Please let the rest of us know if you do not have this issue with your 2010 Fit. So far, with my '09, I haven't had any water leaks. but we haven't had much rain around the CA Central Coast yet. We'll see how it goes.

For an otherwise nicely designed car, this seems to be a pretty stupid oversight, IMO.

i dont think they are talking about leakage. but an abnormal amount of dirt and grim building up in the door jams and sills.

I've noticed dirt in those areas on my 2010 Sport. Even up under the rear hatch. I haven't seen any sign of water/dirt coming into the car beyond the seals. I don't consider this "leakage" since the dirt doesn't appear to be getting beyond the door/hatch seals and into the interior of the car. I believe Honda simply placed the seals way inboard of the doors/hatch, closer to the interior, and the crud finds its way into those areas. It does look particularly nasty though. It could mean that the seals may hold up better over the long haul since they're getting less direct exposure to the elements (not Honda Elements LOL). My Fit has a fairly low level of road noise for a small car, at least compared to my previous 2000 Mazda Protege, and the placement of the seals may have some part to do with that as well.
