I bought a portable GPS (TomTom) and my son installed it on that tiny little window in the front. It's perfect there!
I am facing the same problem but How did your son get the adapter to stick to the window?

Forget sticking stuff to the windows (and if you are in CA, sticking anything to the windows is illegal). Go to the ProClip USA web site. They have a mount that fastens to the driver's side A pillar, with device holders that fit every kind of device. I had one for my '07 Sport, and now use one for my '09 Sport. They can be removed easily to put in the glove box so that thieves don't see the mount and break in to look for your electronic goodies.
Thanks-I made a plug that fits into the small cup hoder(or what ever it is) on the left side of the steering wheel and screwed the nav holder to this . It seems to work but we will see. Thanks for your responce

Jim,
You work too fast! I was just about to post that several accessory vendors sell cup holder inserts that let you use the window sticker bracket vertically in the insert, and others sell non-slip bean bag GPS holders for flat surfaces on the top of the dash. But your idea sounds as if it will work fine. Any of these things will present some minor problems when using the touch-screen to enter info. into the GPS unit, because of the flexibility of the GPS holder that is supplied with the GPs unit.
The ProClips bracket is as stable as anything can be. Well worth the cost. It is so strong and rigid that I riveted another bracket to it to hold my ScanGauge II at eye level next to the side of the windshield. Good luck with your free idea though.
