Whats up everybody, I'm not a Fit owner as of yet, but I plan to be one in the near future. I'm planning on Vivid Blue Pearl, and its going to be my dd so I can work on my project accord.
The fit will just be getting some minor things done to it to be more appealing visually, Some red rota gt3's and a subtle drop which I'll be deciding which setup to use while I am in the process of buying the car.

Hopefully I'll have a new job in the next couple weeks and the Fit soon after. I'm only planning on some cosmetic mods for the Fit. Rims, drop, and maybe a custom grill. But thats about it for me

I got the call I've been waiting for this morning. I am going to be an Account Analyst for The Hartford which means that soon I'll be picking up my Fit. I've got a photoshopped picture of what its eventually going to look like once I've got some extra income on my side.
Is there anything I should look into when buying a car from a dealership. My parents live halfway across the country so bringing one of them with me is not an option. My older brother will be available however and he has experience buying a car or 2 from a dealership.
What kind of hidden costs should I be thinking about before I head there?
heres the ps pic

hidden costs? well...some dealerships do stuff like put a pinstripe on and extra protectants on the paint or interior...and all it is, is to markup the price. if they do that, and you can't get them to not put it on or to remove it without getting charged, go to another dealership. they will try to tell you that all dealerships do this...but they don't. it varies from dealer to dealer. they're counting on you being dumb enough to take their word for it.
for that, I suggest you go to the honda website, look up how much it'll cost you with everything you want on it...write it down and start scoping out various dealerships, NOW so that you're informed before you walk in there expecting to buy the vehicle. if their sticker price listed is more than what the website lists, there's a hidden fee somewhere. take a good look at the sticker, and discuss it with the salesman...see if the charge can be dropped. if not, try the next dealership. some other dealership will either not do this, or will fight for your business.
alright, so you've found the right dealership...and you've gone back to buy the car.
the first thing is - expect this to be an ALL DAY endeavor. eat before you go, and expect to wait there for a few hours.
second ...they will try to seriously mark up the price, and sell you stuff you don't need. hold your ground. don't put up with their crap. ...and remind them that you have the patience to find the car you want elsewhere, if it'll be cheaper. I bought mine with my dad...we let the salesman know that we had friends in kansas city, and they were willing to scope out prices for us, and we were willing to drive up there, if it was cheaper. they will fight for your business...so don't budge. ...and if they don't fight for your business, someone else will. don't be afraid to leave - you've waited this long for the car, you can wait a few days more to find the right price.
...btw, when they take you to "the little room," they'll try to sell you all kinds of extended warranties and security features. for one, if you make changes to the car, it'll void the warranty. so...if you plan to do anything to it, even something as small as rims or air intake, that's reason enough to not get the extended warranty. even if what you got has nothing to do with what's wrong with the car, they'll try to twist it around.
and besides that...comeon, you're buying a honda. they last. you don't need the extended warranty.
security stuff...well, that's up to you. IMO, it's another sales gimmick.
and again, even if you've gotten that far, don't be afraid to leave. sometimes they don't take no for an answer (my parents had an awful experience with the little room at their Scion dealership...they kept pushing the warranty. when I bought my fit though, we had no problems - he got his answer and was immediately on to the next question. so, it depends.)
the main thing is, be informed before you go in, and be EXTREMELY PATIENT with the process. don't let your excitement get to you.
good luck!

thank you. my brother and my soon to be fiance will be undertaking the car buying experience with me. I know all the options I want and the cost, so I guess now its just time to figure out which dealership I want to go through. Theres one about 5 miles from me that has been really helpful so far, and theres another about 15 miles away that hasn't been so helpful, but they also sell spoon and mugen parts out of the parts department...

I started the process today, I put down my initial deposit and it's going to take about 2 weeks for the dealership to get the car in, I guess its fairly difficult for them to find 5 speed sports. I will hopefully be taking delivery of the car December 1st

Its not so shiny now, I got it home and drove around a bit saturday then yesterday I made a trip to NY in the cold and nasty so its kinda dirty now. The buying process was really simple, I've been talking to the dealership for a couple weeks now so when I got there Saturday all I had to do was give them a check and sign some paperwork

mmm I was talking about the whole process...cuz that day that we ordered the car was a nightmare. the day we picked it up was short and sweet too.
heh, give your new baby a bath! ^^

the day I ordered it was pretty short and sweet too, between then and when I picked up the car was the biggest hassle, if I called with a question, they wouldn't check voicemails, emails or return calls, so I was completely oblivious to the answers to my questions til a couple days before I picked it up
