WEIRD! Almost 1400 views of this thread, and not ONE photo of a lowered Fit? I would post, but will never lower my Fit. On other forums there are owners who have Fits so low that they tear out half of their undercarriage just by driving over manhole covers in a gas station (you know the "guy" with the pink Fit with zebra stripe door panels?).

I have mine currently lowered, but I haven't taken pictures since I put the Skunk 2 springs on it. It does corner better on smooth pavement, but I am getting huge negative comments from the girlfriend and daughter. I'll take some pics this weekend before I switch to Enduratech coilover suspension. (supposedly the most daily driver friendly suspension) I got it used, and have one small piece on order from Enduratech. I'm looking forward to a minimal drop.

For the members what type of complaints does the girlfriend have? Like too rough, bouncy or what?

It's too rough and the spring rate is too high for the stock shocks. The rear is particularly harsh. If it had a matched shock/strut combo, it would be killer for track, but not too good for a daily driver unless the roads in your area are very smooth. I just got the enduratechs in the mail yesterday, and just need to get one small part from enduratech to install the set.

Good luck with the new suspension. We obviously have read the same threads, and either Enduratech or Skunk 2 sound like the way to go for the ability to adjust for either performance or comfort, and with the just-right adjustment, both at the same time. On the unofficial forum, kenchan and jsensk have posted extensively on both brands, with very good reviews.

That's too bad but you have to keep the family happy. Glad you found something that will work.

I can vouch for EXWRX's views on the harsh ride of the Skunk2 springs. As a matter of fact, Jeff is riding on same set that I took off of my Fit. Hey, I tried to warn him! Here is the stance with Skunk2 lowering springs:

I agree that they handle great on smooth roads. They ran perfectly neutral when used for AutoX last season. On a good day, they allowed me to almost keep up with "mrFroge."

Those that complained, described the rear end ride as way too harsh/bouncy. On one trip, my 5' 3" sister-in-law hit her head on the roof while riding in the backseat...and she had her seatbelt on!
At freeway speeds, even a 1" expansion joint will make you cringe. Add a turn to a rough, bumpy road, and things can get really dicey. I was able to "soften" the problem by re-installing the OEM springs in the rear, while using the Skunk2 springs up front. This set up felt solid, and handled great, but I was not happy with the "stance." The rear end was up a bit too high for my taste. The front was tucked, and the back had a 3 finger gap.

In order to drop the rear end, I had to go with coilovers. I am presently running Megan coilovers.
Out of the box, the Megan coilovers ship with springs that ride nearly as harsh as the Skunk2 lowering springs. I was able to get around this problem by replacing the rear Megan coils (rated at 200 psi), with Eibach units (rated at 150 psi). Now I have the look, handling, and ride that I can live with.

As for stance, I have them adjusted with the tires "tucked" in front, and set with a 1/4" gap in back. The front can still be dialed for more drop if desired. The rear is already set at maximum drop. Although I guess that it could be lowered another 1/2" by removing the adjusting rings from the perch. According to brother James, my Fit measures 3.5" lower up front, and 2" lower in back than his stock Fit.

Hey Jeff, I'm glad you didn't have to wait 5 months to get your set.

PS-CLUTCHONE- geez, you had to wait nearly 3 years to see a lowered Fit!

Mark,
Thanks again for the great photos and the complete details on your air suspension system. After reading many posts on suspension alterations over the last three years, and seeing the high price of coilovers, and feeling the harsh ride of various lowering springs, if I ever intended to lower my car for track use but didn't want it that low for the lousy streets where I normally drive,I would follow your lead and buy your exact system. The engineering of your system looks fantastic (and reliable).

However, I do not intend to lower my car, but your photos and write-up will almost certainly be an inspiration to some other members with both brains and a big budget. Great job! Rep points to you!
