Today is my third day of driving our Fit Sport, pt on a total of 180 miles.

Observations:
1. Engine is silky smooth for a small displacement inline 4. Idling is smooth, gradual acceleration is also very smooth and linear. Mind you, I always remind myself this is no ferrari, so key things I remind myself that the acceleration is more than adequate for highway merging.

2. handling is very nimble, but the suspension is on the soft side... could be a little more controlled and stiffer

3. very roomy, and seats are very supportive and comfortable

4. driving position is very ergonomic

5. brakes are adequate for the car, but Honda could have included some brake disc at the rear

Just took it to a local Brown Bear automatic car wash, and all the tree sap that spotted the paint was removed. Followed up with Meguiar's final detailer spray, which worked really well... car look factory new.

Things I intend to add to the Fit...

PIAA HB2 intense white bulbs...
T1-R springs
205/50/16 UHP all seasons tires

Greetings mav,
It sounds like you are enjoying your Fit as much as I enjoy mine! I agree with all of your comments. It seems that your GE8 has the same assets as my GD3. As for your comments on soft suspension and adequate brakes, here are some ideas for you to consider.

SUSPENSION:
2. handling is very nimble, but the suspension is on the soft side... could be a little more controlled and stiffer

Hey mav, if this really bothers you, then you need to look into getting a Progress RSB. Our Super Moderator, "manxman" says that this GE8 mod is a must! Here is what he has to say: ...for the real drivers , every Honda Fit NEEDS a good RSB to get the real fun out of the car. Here is a link for you:

BRAKES:

5. brakes are adequate for the car, but Honda could have included some brake disc at the rear

So mav, if you seriously want to stop your car more than just "adequately," look into installing some high performance brake pads for your front discs. I chose to use Hawk HP+ pads, and they help tremendously! The initial bite is startling!
BTW, although rear disc brakes would be really, really nice to look at, and to have on my Fit, I cannot justify replacing my OEMs for them:
1) Most of the stopping power is from the front brakes.
2) rear disc brake systems weigh more than rear drum brakes.
3) a Rear Disc Brake Kit (http://nextmod.com/webstore/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=30058) would cost nearly $1K
4) those that I have spoken to that did the mod, have had problems dialing them in to work properly

NOTE:
Of course when doing such mods, you will have trade-offs. In the case of the Hawk HP+ pads, although they will offer noticeably better stopping power,, they will unfortunately create more brake dust that will collect onto the front rims.
As for the Rear Swaybar, they will offer much better handling characteristics, and a far more stable ride, however, on the downside...err...well ...hmm, I can't think of one!
Cheers,
