View Full Version : Fog light replacement?
Greetings,
My '08 Fit is due for state inspection. I have a cracked glass cover over the driver's side fog light, and I doubt this will pass inspection. Both fogs work great, which explains my lack of desire to repair this issue.
My question: Are there replacement glass covers for the fogs available or do I have to purchase the whole assembly in pairs? I'd much rather just replace the glass if at all possible.
Thanks in advance.

I have read dozens of complaints exactly like yours, but I have never read about a source for just the glass fog light lenses. A cheaper repair than buying an entire new set of fog lights from Honda MIGHT be to buy the fog lights offered by Zeta Products.
I don't know for sure if they are the exact same size as the OEM Honda lights, but it is possible that they are, and they are less expensive than OEM lights. If so, you could use the glass lenses only from the Zeta light kit. To be sure that this would work, you would need to call Angelo Marzullo, the G.M. of Zeta Products and ask him. If the lenses in his kits won't fit your car, he will tell you.
Another cheap fix for your inspection would be to buy Laminex film protectors and apply the film over the broken lens- it may hide the break, and will definitely keep broken glass from falling out.
Thanks for the info. I did a quick browse on Zeta's webpage. At least at first glance, the fog lights seem to be similar to items offered on eBay.
My frustration lies not only with the full replacement of both assemblies, but also because it appears (I'm not certain) that the aftermarket surrounds are not color matched to the car. It also appears (again I'm not certain) that the aftermarket kit is not easy to disassemble and swap parts to the O.E. housing.
Not that a visual is necessarily needed, but one is attached.
Thank you.
Are the lower grill blank inserts where the fogs sit available at a reasonable price? This could get me pass state inspection, at least.

You could always make a cardboard template then get some thin plastic to match the shape then just a couple of dabs of silicone to hold them temporary in place while you go for inspection. Or just take them out fog lights are not required equipment.
For anyone who may experience broken fogs, here's my solution. I purchased the JDM OEM clear fog light kit off of eBay. The kit is a direct replacement, with correct wiring connections and fitment. The stealership wanted $230 for replacement fogs, while the JDM kit (also included are wiring, switch and template which I did not need) cost $75.
Attached are before and after photos, with the new replacement having the black surrounds. After some warming up, I prefer the black surrounds as I think they work better visually with the lower valance.
Thanks!

The new black ones look better to me too.

I'm glad that you found such a perfect cure for the problem. Thanks for letting other members know how to fix this without getting raped by a dealership. I agree with you and claymore that the black surrounds look good on your Fit- body color paint is absolutely unnecessary.
